The questions that come up most about getting a website built or refreshed, with a concrete answer. If yours isn’t here, just ask via the form.
What does a website cost?
A one-pager is € 750 (launch offer, normally € 950); a business site of three to five pages is € 1,500 (normally € 1,950). All amounts exclude VAT, and you know the full price before I start. After that, hosting, the domain name and maintenance run through a plan at € 120 a year or € 20 a month. Payment: a one-pager in full on delivery or in two halves, a business site 40% upfront and the rest at launch. JTMedia works with one point of contact, Jens Taveirne himself, based in Zedelgem and working for sole traders and small businesses in West Flanders and beyond.
Are there hidden or recurring costs?
No hidden costs. You get one fixed price, known upfront and written into the proposal. Extra work, such as an additional page or a second language, is always discussed first, before I do it, never invoiced after the fact. The only recurring cost is the maintenance plan: every site needs hosting and a domain name, and I take care of that through Light (€ 120 a year) or Carefree (€ 20 a month). If you’d rather handle that yourself or have someone else do it, you get all the files. Not sure about the scope, the calculator on the pricing page gives a fair price range before we even talk.
How long until my site is online?
For a one-pager: three to four weeks from the introductory call, provided your logo and photos arrive in good time. A business site with more pages takes a little longer. You see the progress as it goes.
Do I have to write the copy myself?
No. It takes about an hour of your time: one introductory call. After that I write all the copy for you. You provide your logo and a few photos; I take care of the rest.
Do I own my website afterwards?
Yes. The domain name is in your name, and you get the files and an explanation. There’s no lock-in: you’re not tied to anything and can take the site elsewhere later.
What’s included in maintenance?
With Carefree (€ 20 a month): hosting, domain name, security certificate, automatic backups, monitoring, and small text or photo changes up to about half an hour a month. One point of contact for everything.
Does the site work well on a smartphone?
Yes. Every site is designed mobile-first from the very first sketch and tested on phone, tablet and computer. Because the site is built static and light, without a heavy CMS, it loads fast, even on a slow mobile connection. Most visitors to a small-business website arrive on a smartphone, so that’s the starting point, not an afterthought. This site itself scores above ninety out of a hundred on a standard mobile speed test, and that’s the level I build yours to as well.
Why not WordPress?
WordPress is powerful, and for an online shop or a large news site it’s often the right choice. But most business websites don’t need that weight and still pay for it: slower, more parts that can break, and plugins that keep asking for updates. That’s why I build light and static: faster, safer and low-maintenance. If a CMS suits your project better, I’ll tell you honestly.
Can an existing website be refreshed?
Yes. Plenty of projects are exactly that: a site that’s been up for years and no longer matches how the business works today, rebuilt on a modern, maintenance-free footing.
I just started my business, isn’t a website too early?
Quite the opposite. A first impression counts from day one, whether someone looks up your name or hears about you by word of mouth. You don’t need to wait until everything is settled: the one-pager from € 750 is built exactly for a compact, professional starting point. As your business grows, the site simply grows with it.
Can I make changes to my website myself afterwards?
By default I manage your site for you: you email a change and I make it, already included in maintenance. If you’d rather be able to change small things yourself, such as text, photos or opening hours, that’s available as an option: a simple self-service portal, without your site needing a heavy CMS like WordPress for it. Ballpark price: from € 350 one-off, with "Zorgeloos + self-service" maintenance afterwards at € 25–30 per month instead of € 20. Mention it during the introductory call and we’ll look at whether that’s a good fit for you.
Do you also work outside West Flanders?
Yes. JTMedia is based in Zedelgem. In West Flanders and the Ghent area I’m happy to drop by for the introductory meeting; if you’re further away, in the rest of Flanders or in the Netherlands, we have that conversation online. Nothing else changes: the same person, the same fixed price upfront, the same approach. Businesses in the Netherlands with a VAT number are invoiced without Belgian VAT (reverse charge).
